It was too far from my home and I did not have enough time ... and too many things going on at home and my church and kid's school. So, why go? I weighed the options and the CONS won by a long shot! I stayed home and worked hard. I had no remorse, and absoultely NO guilt about missing the BGCT meeting. I hear what you say about McAllen. If people did not attend the BGCT meeting in Houston due to time, distance, and cost, who in the world would drive to edge of no where, A.K.A., McAllen! It is at least 2,000 miles to McAllen from anywhere in Texas! Just kidding, but it is a long ways. Will anyone reading this blog go to McAllen? Post and let us know. If the two biggest Metro areas in Texas could not draw any more people than they did the past two years (DFW in 2008 and Houston this year) how do they expect to get more than 500 or so to go to McAllen? I wonder!?! Unless there is some big reason to go or a big controversy develops prior to next year's convention meeting in McAllen, I predct than next year's BGCT meeting will be WAY LESS than 1,000... possibly 500 or so.
