Over the years at the convention I have “studied”the program information that is given out to us. I have noticed that it seems that most of the committee appointments come from generally the same churches and or regions of the state.
I don’t know if that is purely coincidence or planning. I can’t say nor will I judge that situation. But suffice it to say, It is only right that someone from my small congregation is able to serve on those same committees as much as someone from 1st Baptist Big Town.
I notice that on some Baptist committees, unless you have a DR in front of your name, forget about being on that committee. That isn’t right either. Nor should it only be those with REV or MR either. There needs to be broad, across the great state of Texas representation.
So in some ways I think proposals being batted around related to this matter have some meat on them. I say bring them on in a spirit of love and cooperation and let’s talk and vote on it.
At the same time, some are writing some really ugly comments related to this whole thing and that is not helpful to anyone. It only causes backs to stiffen up and feelings to get hurt. Uh, Words do hurt, don’t they?
So to those who are wanting change, great, just tone down the rhetoric and you will be taken much more seriously.
It’s just my opinion.
