More Hogwash from Montoya

May 30, 2009

Montoya says he recieved this email:

David,

I found this interesting. I was talking to the chairman of the committee that is recommending an interim pastor. The committee wanted to know how much to pay the interim, where to start, the going rates, etc. The chairman called the BGCT for help and was told that for eighty five dollars, the BGCT would furnish the formula for figuring a ball park amount.

Our chairman called the Arkansas general convention and got the information free.

The BGCT is not much help?

Personally I find this unreal. Now the big question is this. Did David call the BGCT himself and find out if this is true, BEFORE he posted this email? My best quess is probably not. David lives for this kind of thing.

The BGCT does not charge for it’s services. I talked to someone about coming out and doing an evaluation of our campus and they will come at no charge to the church. I have a fellow coming out to do a financial seminar at no charge.

David, someone sent you some manure for you step in. And you so willingly step in it!!  Please do some research before you publish such hogwash.

Just Wondering

May 29, 2009

Seems to me that Rick Davis was not at 1st Brownwood very long when he moved on to another church. I thought he was much loved and appreciated there. So why did he leave?

From what I gather he is the one that is making the claim that his current church was interferred with by someone within the BGCT building.  Apparently it is suggested that a pulpit committee member was “told” that Davis would not be good for that church.

Could be someone on the pulpit committee called someone at the BGCT, seeing as Davis previously worked for the BGCT and sought a reference on him. That is a perfectly legitimate thing to do, to not do so would be neglect on the committees part. So someone at the BGCT didn’t give him a good recommendation apparently, otherwise Davis would not be throwing a fit about all this.

Now understand if, that is a big if, someone within the BGCT called his current church unsolicitated and told a member of that pulpit committee a negative review on Davis, then that is inappropriate.  I suspect that is not the case.

Just wondering why Davis left 1st Brownwood. Everything I read on his blog was that things were going great there. That he loved Brownwood and the people in that great church. Hmm, just wondering. I realize it isn’t really any of my business, just wondering.

Could he have been (God forbid) forced out. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. If that is the case then I am sincerely saddened by that. It is a  painful and hurtful situation to be asked to leave a church, after you have served for a number of years and poured your heart and soul into ministering to the best of your abilities. Only to be told “we don’t want you anymore”. If that is the case Rick I am truly sorry. I suspect that isn’t the case.

Maybe he felt it was time to move on. That his work there was complete and there was more work needed elsewhere. Or that it really wasn’t a good fit. I pray that he is happy where he is.  God speed Rick.

Watch out for the Blues Brothers!

May 28, 2009

Rick “Zebra” Davis and David “Karate Chop” Montoya have proven themselves to be wordsmith’s when it comes to attacking those who dare to criticize them. In a previous post I showed how vicious and onery Montoya can be to anyone who dares to critique him.

So now Davis has done the same.  Was gonna post his response  to me and other person named Peter, but alas at this very moment the responses have been removed. Hmmmm. Feeling guilty maybe. I happen to still have these fine examples for show that came posted on my e-mail.

I had defended a fellow named Peter, whom I don’t know. Peter had critiqued Davis’ response related to his blog on the SBC Today matter re: the supposed withholding of funds to the IMB. Peter was “ripped” a part by Davis and called a child. Davis responds to me with this:

Bob,On Wed, May 27, 2009 at 1:18 PM

You are not a child. You are a dolt. There is a difference. Regardless of your age, you will always and forever be a dolt.

RD

I said in response to that with:

“And you mean that ‘in Christian love’

And his response is:

“No, I meant I give you up to Satan for the sake of your soul. You are the kind of sneaky little snake who slithers around looking for something to slime on. You are not a serious person. Grow up.”On Thu, May 28, 2009 at 8:40 AM,

So there ya have it. The responses speak for themselves.

So watch out for the Blues Brothers, “Zebra” will blow his whistle and call you out of the “game”and “Karate Chop” will bust your ….well you get the point.

Whose Controlling Whom?

May 27, 2009

Was reading this exchange on Montoya blog related to a new scandal he thought he found, but has since gone up in smoke.

The first comment is from a Ms. Jackson.  Montoya had published the IP address on his blog as a type of threat to Jackson:

  1. My husband predicted your responses. He warned me you guys go into an attack mode when anybody questions you. Courageous, good, intelligent, 2 fifth degree black belts (is that the equivalent of 1 10th degree black belt?) Davis, why do you feel so compelled to hide such a man behind your skirts? I remember when my big brothers paid the local black belt to make them the next version of the karate kid that they brought home materials which spoke of honor and self-control – qualities which seem to be lacking in the one you so ardently defend. If Montoya is so intelligent, why is it that every organization he is associated with seems to be on the receiving end of a law suit because he can’t control his mouth? Just another example of all testosterone and no brains.

Here’s another IP address for you to publish…like doing that intimidates people.

  2. Here is Montoya’s response to her:
    1. Don’t you just love it. A person who attacks you and then accuses you of going into “attack” mode.

MS Jackson, I am surprised your husband had the courage to make a prediction. Do you give him permission to speak? I bet he has a high squeaky voice. Perhaps if he had more testosterone and your were not so, “Jack in the Box commercial”, you could be of help in correcting the wrong in Texas Baptist life.

I am being sued because the BGCT did not do the right thing. According to your logic, Dexton Shores, Roberto Rodriquez, and others could not keep their mouths shut either thus they are being sued.

The only reason I do not delete your “attack” comment is because I have a hard time believing you work at Cooks. Do you not have any ethical problem using your work computer for personal activity? I guess that is why our insurance is so high, paying for people to work at a hospital so they can comment on blogs.

If you post such a comment again I will add you to the spam list. You can disagree, discuss and offer other ideas. However I am sick of folks like you who focus on the speck in my eye while they have a long in theirs.

What a wonderful and “Godly” response from Montoya. He don’t like you, you get “spammed”. I too am on his spam list. He can’t handle any criticism, so he blocks comments that make him look bad. I allow him to comment on my blog anytime. I will delete any blatantly hurtful stuff, but he is free to post any time. But alas, his is not a free exchange of ideas and critique.

So who is controlling whom?

The Building is out to get us, oh my!!!

May 27, 2009

So apparently they have secret meetings to plan and scheme to get us. Afterall those in the BGCT building don’t really care about us, they just want our money to pad the large salaries of staffers.  So they meet in secret and Montoya sees a conspiracy brewing.

One would think those in the building are evil and have a laugh that would put chills down your spine. The image that the blues brothers have painted is  people smoking cigars and drinking beer on the side, of course at BGCT expense. That they all drive around in gas guzzling cars, with tinted windows so we can’t see who they are with.

Why they throw money at people who do them favors. They have large expense accounts that is always overdrawn and then covered up at the end of the month.  Dang they probably all have large houses and entertain each other every other weekend at different BGCT funded homes.

Of course when they fly, they go first class all the way. No regular seating for these cats!! No cheap accomodations for them. Why the meals are top notch and of course billed to the BGCT.

When a church is without a pastor, staff from the building pull up in front of the church in window tinted Cadillacs. They all wear dark sunglasses and carry black briefcases. Oh,they don’t come alone, they come in two’s, just like in New Testament times. They set in on pulpit committee meetings and screen potential candidates for pastor of that church. Why they actually tear up resumes that don’t fit the bill.

I think they actually block the new pastor from coming to the church by standing in front of the church, with dark suits and sunglasses. Why he didn’t fit the bill and so the building is stopping that church from calling that pastor to the pulpit.  I hear they actually lock arms together and chant, “No you can’t!”.

Hmm, is all this dribble just a bunch of hockey puck? Not in Montoya, Davis and thier followers world.  They really see the BGCT and the building as evil war lords, trying to control and take over churches all over the state.

Not on  my watch. I believe strongly in autonomy of the local church. I don’t see the BGCT threatening that. Did they interfere with a church calling a pastor? Apparently not. Montoya blew it out of proportion, what not Montoya!!

BGCT staff and others in the building are Godly servants and should be treated as such. Having said that, bad apples are possible. Even in our wonderful churches are bad apples, but we don’t denigrate and withhold funds because of a few. In our fallen world, they will always be those who don’t measure up.

Nah, the building is not out to get us. Currie and his gang have every right to meet in ”secret”. By the way, if it is so secret, then how come we know about it? Just wondering.

Busted!!

May 23, 2009

Caught with his pants around his ankles and still Montoya blogs away looking for more “scandals”. This just shows his willingness to read and conclude erroneously with whatever information is sent to him.

Gee, I think Iwill mail him some false stuff just to see what reaction he gives.

David you have been busted for posting false information on your blog. Will your readership suddenly take a dive. Nah. People still like to watch train wrecks.

Aint Nothing He Likes

May 21, 2009

The dude lives with a half glass of  water ever before him! Why anything from the BGCT has blood all over it, according to David Montoya.

Put him in charge, he is the arrogant one who knows what is best in everything that Baptist do.

Unless Rick Davis is the new head of the BGCT and Montoya is his sidekick, they are never gonna find anything good to say about anything in the BGCT building.   So Randall, step down and kiss they rings and let them show us all how to do things.

Now “supposedly” a “package”was sent that has “proof” that another scandal has been found with the BGCT. OOohh, wow, like all the “supposed” other scandals were true. Still waiting on proof of interference from the BGCT and a local church and it’s pastor.  Hmmm, what is that silence I hear?

Gee, whatever happened to the tell all book that was to be posted on his blog as it was being written? Hmmm, what more silence.

Dude, I believeth thou art full of hot air!!

And apparently enough yoo hoo’s still read his blog and send him “dirt” to keep him fed. Feed the beast and it will eat anything you mail to him. I just find it interesting that he gets all these e-mails, snail mails and packages with investagative type material from always anonymous sources.

So now Montoya is on to another “scandal”. He now has a meal to chew on for a while. Oh, boy, now we gotta hear more dribble from him.

Go Get em Terry!

May 20, 2009

Since Montoya blocks me from his narrow minded blog, I say from here, “Go get Em Terry!!”

Terry Austin is a former BGCT employee and as such has and is seeing things from a realistic view. He takes Montoya and Davis, the Blues Brothers to task.

To the Blues Brothers: It is  time to retire your old and worn out rhetoric. Your record is skipping and repeating the same line over and over again. Maybe it is time to drag the needle across your record and destroy it and throw it away.

Your arguments are losing ground and people are bored with your constant shrill.

As the old song says “Turn out the lights the parties over.”

People done left the dance hall, it is time for yall to call it quits.

“Kingdom Unibombers”

May 20, 2009

Boy howdy, ya read Montoya recent blog and ya think the whole dad gum  BGCT building and it’s employees are the new “Enron”. My goodness he swings with a wide karate kick in  the gut to all those in the building. Here is a direct quote from his recent blog:

“Let there be no doubt that the majority of those who work in the BGCT have blood on their hands. They have the blood of conspiracy to cover up, the blood of corrupt use of money given in good faith to build the kingdom, and the blood of betraying, berating, and beating down others in order to save themselves during the Wade feeding frenzies.”

Wow, what strong words of slander and accusation!!  And this from a brother in Christ!! Oh,I know he will say I am questioning his Christianity. No I question his  understanding of Ephesian 4:32-”Be kind one to another, tender hearted forgiving one another, even as God in Christ sake has forgiven you.” Or maybe his ability to apply, “Do unto others …” you get the rest of it.

As a pastor for the last 20 years, I have had some who have falsely accused me and have felt the pain of that accusation. I would not wish on anyone the nasty letters and calls I have recieved from “Brothers and Sisters in Christ”. Oh, I know they say they are doing it “in Christian love”. But honestly if that is “Christian love” you can keep it.

Since Montoya is a pastor, I wonder if he would wish on himself the accusations and broad sweeps he is dishing out.  Or is has he ever had anything like this done to him? Could be he has and that is why he is “lashing out” at the BGCT.

To those in the building, know that you are doing a great job and for that I am grateful. You are where you are cause you have felt called to be there or you wouldn’t be there. Yours is the same calling as any other minister and as such command respect and prayers. Yes, we are free to make constructive criticism, but not in a spirit of hate and anger.

Yes, some changes are needed and have been made. You serve within the BGCT, in much the same fashion as a staff person at a local church. You are carefully listening to your “congregation”, the churches. You don’t “rule” over us, you come at our beck and call. You don’t tell us what to do or even what to believe. You have no authority over the churches and you are aware of that. As you serve, you do so humbly.

I, as pastor of a member church within the BGCT family, support your work and thank God for you. Your work IS helping to expand the Kingdom of God. The detractors like Montoya are like the church members who send you nasty notes and make ya wanna puke. I call people like that “Kingdom Unibombers”.  They send you “packages” and notes that try to “blow up” the work of God.

But alas you have more supporters than you realize. The vast majority of churches within the BGCT are in awe of the work that is carried out under the large umbrella of the convention. Keep up the great work. Throw the “unibomber” stuff in the garbage where it belongs.

Yesterday as Today

May 14, 2009

Understand that I was a young high school graduate when I first became a Baptist. Shortly thereafter I surrendered to the ministry and made my way to Hardin-Simmons.

My question is this, weren’t the “higher ups” making “large” salaries during the 70’s as well?  I don’t know the answer to that. If you read Montoya, you would think that what “large” salaries  being paid out today is a new thing. And that Bill Pinson was perfect in every way.

How different are things today? Are the salaries comparable to past salaries? Or is Montoya just fighting at a straw man issue? Could it be class envy? Could it be plain old jealousy?

I realize that economic wise, things are very different today. And with that in mind, yeah salaries need to be measured carefully. Staffing needs to be trimmed. It just stands to reason that change has to take place.

My sister-in-law teaches at a private Christian school in California and they are cutting staff big time. Enrollment at her school has dropped from more than 1000 to 800 in the last two years. So naturally staff have to be cut.

Texas is doing better than California, but we are still in an economic downturn nonetheless. So it stands to reason that cuts will need to be made. Of course I realize that means some families will be hurt along the way. I pray it can be done with much Christian compassion.

Even in our churches, finances are being pinched.Offerings are naturally dropping due to the economic downturn. In turn giving to BGCT/SBC is gonna drop too. It is scary how far down our economy is heading. And ministries of all kinds are getting hit.

So to the big guys at the BGCT building, I love you all very much. But it is time to tighten the belt, like the rest of us. I know things have been tightening up recently. I’m afraid more belt tightening is needed. The days of six figure salaries may be over. Assistants to the assistants etc. may need to be trimmed down.

Any cuts in what the BGCT is doing is hard to take. Lives will be affected by hard decisions.  But hard decisions have to be made, not because Montoya says so, but because it is necessary. Montoya just sees nothing but corruption with the BGCT. He lives for corruption in the BGCT.  Aint none going on, why he will create it.

I really don’t know if the claim of “large” salaries beyond our imagination is true or not. But I suspect the same argument was being batted around back in the 60′ s and 70’s too. I have spoken to some with the BGCT building who tell me they don’t make huge amounts of money, but just enough to live in the high cost Dallas market.

Yesterday as Today. People will complain about the higher ups making too much money. I think it could just be class envy or jealousy at play.
