Boy howdy, ya read Montoya recent blog and ya think the whole dad gum BGCT building and it’s employees are the new “Enron”. My goodness he swings with a wide karate kick in the gut to all those in the building. Here is a direct quote from his recent blog:
“Let there be no doubt that the majority of those who work in the BGCT have blood on their hands. They have the blood of conspiracy to cover up, the blood of corrupt use of money given in good faith to build the kingdom, and the blood of betraying, berating, and beating down others in order to save themselves during the Wade feeding frenzies.”
Wow, what strong words of slander and accusation!! And this from a brother in Christ!! Oh,I know he will say I am questioning his Christianity. No I question his understanding of Ephesian 4:32-”Be kind one to another, tender hearted forgiving one another, even as God in Christ sake has forgiven you.” Or maybe his ability to apply, “Do unto others …” you get the rest of it.
As a pastor for the last 20 years, I have had some who have falsely accused me and have felt the pain of that accusation. I would not wish on anyone the nasty letters and calls I have recieved from “Brothers and Sisters in Christ”. Oh, I know they say they are doing it “in Christian love”. But honestly if that is “Christian love” you can keep it.
Since Montoya is a pastor, I wonder if he would wish on himself the accusations and broad sweeps he is dishing out. Or is has he ever had anything like this done to him? Could be he has and that is why he is “lashing out” at the BGCT.
To those in the building, know that you are doing a great job and for that I am grateful. You are where you are cause you have felt called to be there or you wouldn’t be there. Yours is the same calling as any other minister and as such command respect and prayers. Yes, we are free to make constructive criticism, but not in a spirit of hate and anger.
Yes, some changes are needed and have been made. You serve within the BGCT, in much the same fashion as a staff person at a local church. You are carefully listening to your “congregation”, the churches. You don’t “rule” over us, you come at our beck and call. You don’t tell us what to do or even what to believe. You have no authority over the churches and you are aware of that. As you serve, you do so humbly.
I, as pastor of a member church within the BGCT family, support your work and thank God for you. Your work IS helping to expand the Kingdom of God. The detractors like Montoya are like the church members who send you nasty notes and make ya wanna puke. I call people like that “Kingdom Unibombers”. They send you “packages” and notes that try to “blow up” the work of God.
But alas you have more supporters than you realize. The vast majority of churches within the BGCT are in awe of the work that is carried out under the large umbrella of the convention. Keep up the great work. Throw the “unibomber” stuff in the garbage where it belongs.
